Ugh. Procrastination is my middle name. It is my worst enemy and yet every time I fall for its trick. I just wish there was some way to reprogram my brain or something to be smart and efficient. If only there was...

I have an SAT subject test for Biology in two weeks. Right now, based on the practice tests I'm taking, I wouldn't even come close to a good score. I need to up my game!! Other people taking this test are coming closer and closer to perfect scores and yet here I am, wasting my time online and off of it. I need help. Major help. How do I fix myself?

Well of course there are countless guides on the topic, but just spending time reading them and then doing nothing about it won't help me. My phone always distracts me, and if I keep my phone away, its just me. I zone off into another world of daydreams and fantasies- like most people at school. But bases on some reading I've been doing, the best tips are to:

  1. Switch off or Keep Away the Phone

  2. Phones are the number one distraction. Spending hours on Facebook or Instagram doesn't sound like something that can happen, but it does. So often. The best thing you can do is to keep them away in another room. Remember, out of sight, out of mind.

  3. Prioritize Your Tasks

  4. If you put your tasks in order from most urgent/important to least, you have a higher chance of completing them. Being more organized also gives you a satisfactory feeling when you can cross off each task from that to do list!

  5. Use the Pomodoro technique

  6. This is a tried and tested technique by many people.

The basic concept is to set a timer for a certain amount of time, lets say 30 minutes. After thirty minutes are over, take a break for 5-10 minutes. This helps you break down your work into chunks and get rid of any mental resistance to get started. Just make sure you set a timer for your break too, so you don't take too long of one!

If you want anymore tips, check out my Pinterest board. I saved a lot of articles and tips on how to be more productive. I hope it helps!

Always,
